Gameplay

How do I win? Most territories when the deck empties. After the last card is drawn, everyone takes one final turn, then count. Tied? Most cards in hand breaks it.

What happens when the deck runs out? The player who draws the last card triggers the final round. Everyone — including them — takes one more complete turn. Then the count happens.

Can I attack on my first turn? You can. You shouldn't. You start with 3 cards. Spend one attacking and you're down to 2 with nothing to show for it if combat goes south. Claim empty territories first.

What's the max hand size? 7 cards. Go above that and you discard down at end of turn. What you choose to drop matters.

Do I have to take an action every turn? Yes. Skipping costs you a card — discard one and pass. You can't pass for free.

Cards

What's the difference between Strains, Events, and Instants?

TypeRoleWhen played
StrainsCombat cards — Attack and Defense statsYour Action Phase
EventsOne-shot board-changing effectsYour Action Phase
InstantsReal-time response cardsAny player's turn (online only)

Do Instants work in local mode? No. They need the real-time interrupt window, which only exists online. Not in the local deck.

Can I play multiple Instants in one window? Yes. Stack them. Last played resolves first.

Does playing an Instant use my action? Never. They're free. Play them on opponents' turns and still take your full action on yours.

Can I get discarded cards back? Only through specific Events (The Come Down, Searching 4 Scraps). The discard pile is face-up — both you and your opponents can see what's available.

Territories

How do I claim a territory? Play a Strain onto any empty territory during your Action Phase. That's it. It's yours now, defended by that card.

Can I stack multiple cards on one territory? Only CBD Coast holds 2 defenders. Everything else maxes at 1. Multiple defenders? Sum their Defense stats.

Does Indica Island's +2 Defense apply to all my territories? No. The +2 applies when Indica Island itself is being defended in combat. It makes that specific territory significantly harder to take, especially combined with CBD Coast's double-defender slot.

How does Blunt Beach's double attack work? Once every 5 turns, you take two attack actions in one turn. A cooldown timer tracks availability. Both attacks happen in the same Action Phase.

Does Ganja Grove score from turn 1? Yes. Starts accumulating the turn you claim it. Lose it mid-game and you lose future VP, not past ones.

Combat

What happens on an exact stat tie? Both players roll dice (0-100). Higher roll takes it. Dice also tie? Both cards discard, territory goes empty. Nobody wins.

Can the defender play cards from hand during combat? Not in local. In online mode, defenders can drop Instant cards during the interrupt window — boost Defense, cancel the attack, redirect it.

Where do losing cards go? Discard pile. A few Events can pull from there. Track what's been discarded — it tells you what's still in play.

Can I attack the same territory twice in one turn? Only with Blunt Beach (cooldown ready) or Two Toke Tango (Instant). Otherwise, one attack per turn.

Does Indica Island's +2 apply during combat? Yes, when Indica Island is the territory being attacked. The +2 adds to the Defense of the card defending that territory during combat resolution.

Online play

How do interrupt windows work? After any action, a window opens for 10-30 seconds. Anyone can respond with Instants. Window closes. Action resolves with any modifications applied. Last Instant played resolves first.

What if someone disconnects? Short reconnection window. If they don't come back, they forfeit. Their territories go unclaimed.

Can I surrender? Yes. 2-player game: it ends. 3-4 player game: you're eliminated. Your territories go unclaimed. Remaining players continue.

Strategy

Which territories should I prioritize?

  1. Sativa Springs — Card advantage compounds every turn. Claim or contest immediately.
  2. Ganja Grove — Free VP every turn. Every turn you don't hold it, someone else gains.
  3. Indica Island — +2 Defense globally changes how attackable you are.

Should I save Events? Usually yes. They're strongest as game-deciders. Exception: if you hold Dank Desert, each Event in hand at game end is +1 VP. Different math.

Attack or defend? Phase-dependent. Early: claim open ground. Mid: defend key holdings, attack only with clear advantages. Late: secure your position for the count.

How do I know the game is almost over? Watch the deck. 15 or fewer cards remaining? Stop expanding. Start counting. Hold what you have.
